Citizen Support Services of Lake Wales

Mission and Vision of our organization

Mission: To support and advocate for needs that exist within Lake Wales, where existing service organizations are not well positioned to support or coordinate a service project.


Vision: Citizens of Lake Wales, in partnership with leaderships from several community service organizations, work toward ensuring support is provided to our citizens in need.


Partnership Community Service organizations include: Lake Wales Public Library, The Boys and Girls Club, Care Center, Lincoln Development, Bok Tower Gardens, Family Literacy Academy of Lake Wales, YMCA, churches, schools, the City of Lake Wales, and Lake Wales Chamber of Commerce.

Upcoming Events

January 31 - Polk Education Foundation: Registration to be a Scholarship Reviewer CLOSES (see Supporting Students, Teachers, and Parents below)


February 15 - Application window CLOSES for 2023-24 School Year for many schools (see Supporting Schools below)


February 17 - Window to file to become a candidate for the Lake Wales City Commissioner CLOSES (see Supporting Registered Voters below)

Supporting Schools - Deadline February 15

This year the School Choice Application period, or Open Enrollment, to apply children ENDS February 15th.


For many students to enter as a new student to many public schools or programs now, parents must apply before the deadline for their child to be considered.

Supporting Students, Teachers, and Parents

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

The Polk Education Foundation (PEF) scholarship window for students to apply is scheduled to open January 16th and run through February 9th. If you know any high school seniors in Polk County, encourage them to apply. 


PEF anticipates starting the review process by the end of February or beginning of March. The review process will run through mid to late April with award ceremonies starting in early May.   


Click on the link below and register by January 31st if you will be able to serve as a scholarship application reviewer this year.  Registering using the link below allows PEF to capture confidentiality agreement information and contact information.

February 17th is the deadline to run for a Lake Wales City Commissioner Seat.

Voting will be available for eligible citizens from early March through April 4th.

Supporting Residents Needing Encouragement

Unused notecard donations are being accepted, and volunteers are writing cards for local people who would really appreciate a note of encouragement and human contact.
